Using the rare Japanese mint of Shinbimidori, a shochu with a refreshing mint taste.

The mint is a perennial plant of the Labiatae family. The mint plant currently cultivated around the world can be largely divided into the three types of Japanese species (Japanese mint), western species (peppermint), and green species (spearmint). The Japanese species contains the highest amount of menthol, and its medicinal effects and aroma are used widely in drugs, cosmetics, confectionaries, and liqueur. From the Taisho era to the mid-Showa era, the southern region of Okayama Prefecture was a major producing area for the Japanese mint; however, the cultivation declined gradually, and it was believed to have gone extinct. But in 2010, the natural growth of the Japanese mint was found by chance on a riverbed in Yakagecho. By selecting the favorable mint and growing it pesticide-free in the town, it was trademark registered as Shinbimidori.  Fully using the brewing technology cultivated by Yoikigen Co., Ltd. over many years, it is prepared with a sweet scent and a mint flavor full of refreshment. It can be enjoyed on the rocks or with soda, and making a Japanese-style Mojito is also recommended by adding raw mint, gum syrup, and soda . Also, please enjoy it after a heavy meal.
